The Jogan family

The roots of our family go back to the village of Pedrovo, which lies on the edge of the Vipava Valley and offers the most beautiful view of its landscape. Our ancestors have been involved in viticulture and winemaking as far back as we can remember, with the oldest evidence of a front barrel bottom dating back to 1892. In the small village of Pedrovo, they made their way through difficult hilly terrain and survived by combining livestock farming with viticulture.

In the 1970s, nono Jožef and nona Zdravka moved their family and farm to Pobegi near Koper, where an easier life, a kinder terrain and better weather awaited them. At that time, the family focused more on viticulture and winemaking, and nono Jožef fell in love with and planted vineyards of indigenous Refošk and Malvazija vines, as well as the varieties of Vitovska Grganja, Yellow Muškat, Lipovščica and Merlot.

Today, Damijan continues the tradition of viticulture and winemaking, adding the international variety Shiraz to the selection, and uses oak barriques for maturing the wines, as well as many more modern technologies for achieving excellent wine quality. He could not have continued the tradition without his family supporting and helping him; his wife Steliana, who is from Romania, always surprises him with excellent Slovenian and Romanian home-cooked meals. His children Julija and Adrian are also indispensable, as they are continuously more involved in the work and bring fresh ideas to the farm. In the spirit of continuous improvement and education, Damijan and Julija have also obtained the title of 1st level Sommelier.
